How to Connect TradingView to Eightcap Challenges MT5 (2026)

Benjamin F., Co-founder5 min read

PineHook can connect TradingView alerts to an Eightcap Challenges MT5 account. Eightcap Challenges provides MT5 and allows Expert Advisors under its trading rules. US residents cannot purchase an MT5 challenge, so this route is for an eligible account issued elsewhere.

The firm's One Phase, Two Phase, and Day Trader programs have different loss and news rules. Check your account's program and stage before choosing PineHook settings; an MT5 connection alone tells you nothing about which limit applies.

Eightcap Challenges details checked against its official site and Rules and Conditions V2.3 on September 22, 2026. Use the current rulebook and dashboard for your issued account.

Connect Eightcap Challenges MT5 to PineHook#

Create a PineHook account, then connect the MT5 login that Eightcap Challenges issued.

  1. Download MT5 from Eightcap Challenges and find the account credentials in its dashboard. Sign in using the server shown for that account.
  2. Create an MT5 license, attach the PineHook EA to a chart, and enable algorithmic trading. Enter the license key in the EA and keep MT5 online; PineHook does not need your MT5 password.
  3. Add PineHook's webhook URL, the license key, and a command to a TradingView alert.

TradingView does not place Pine strategy orders automatically through a brokerage connection. The alert sends the instruction to PineHook, and Signal Logs records the account's response.

Check the symbol, size, and first order#

Eightcap Challenges directs traders to the platform for the current instrument list and spreads. Copy the exact symbol from MT5 Market Watch, inspect its minimum volume, step, contract size, stop distance, and hours, then add a symbol map if TradingView uses another ticker. Lot size conversion handles strategies that send units or contracts rather than MT5 lots.

If your issued account uses hedging mode, ticket= can identify one of several positions within a strategy, each with its own stop, take profit, or multi-level TP and SL schedule. Verify the account mode before adding the parameter, since netting accounts reject it.

Send a small order that fits your risk plan, with a visible stop. Replace the example size if the instrument requires a different minimum.

YOUR_LICENSE_KEY,buy,EURUSD,size_lots=0.01,magic=1001,sl_pips=50,tp_pips=100

Compare the filled symbol, size, stop, and target in MT5 with Signal Logs. Eightcap's ban on offsetting exposures still applies regardless of account mode.

Eightcap's rulebook caps each forex order at 40 lots, commodities at 10, and indices at 20. One Phase and Two Phase accounts may have no more than ten open trades at once. Day Trader uses separate total-exposure limits, so check its current program page before sizing an order.

Set the Eightcap Challenges loss limits#

The current Rules and Conditions measure daily drawdown from the previous day's balance snapshot and evaluate the day's equity loss against it. Maximum total loss uses an initial-balance floor. The standard program comparison lists these figures:

ProgramDaily drawdownMaximum total loss
One Phase4% of previous day's balance8% of initial balance
Two Phase5% of previous day's balance10% of initial balance
Day TraderNone listed in V2.3Fixed dollar amount chosen by session length and payout multiplier

Use Static overall drawdown with the issued balance as baseline for a fixed total-loss floor. PineHook's daily guard starts from the higher of balance and equity at its UTC reset, whereas Eightcap uses the previous day's balance snapshot. That makes the guard an approximation, particularly when a position is open at reset. Set it conservatively inside the firm's line, check Eightcap's live dashboard, and leave room for spread and slippage when closing.

Payout rules also need attention. On accounts created on or after February 11, Eightcap caps one day's contribution at 30% of a One Phase payout and 35% of a Two Phase payout; older accounts use 25% and 30%. A loss guard cannot enforce that distribution, so check the account creation date before requesting a payout.

Apply news and holding rules by stage#

Under Rules and Conditions V2.3, high-impact news restrictions apply in the Payout Stage: One Phase and Two Phase prohibit trading for ten minutes before and after a release, while Day Trader uses five minutes each side. Set the News Filter for your program and check its holds in the News Calendar. The filter stops new PineHook entries; it cannot prevent a resting order, stop, or target already in MT5 from executing.

The same rulebook allows weekend and out-of-hours trading, and Eightcap's program FAQ permits swing trading. Market hours still control when an instrument can trade, so check the session in MT5 before carrying or closing a position.

Eightcap Challenges prohibits arbitrage and market abuse, including offsetting trades intended to exploit another account. PineHook can control entries and active hours, but a successful alert does not establish that the strategy itself complies with those rules.

Copy the strategy to permitted accounts#

The Trade Copier can send your own strategy to several Eightcap Challenges accounts or accounts at other brokers, with a size multiplier and risk settings per destination. Eightcap allows copying between accounts you own, including a personal account, when they share the registered email address. Copying another trader's trades is prohibited. Check every destination's rules, and do not use opposing positions to sidestep Eightcap's hedging restriction.
