Review economic releases in the PineHook News Calendar and preview which events your license settings would block new trades around.

The News Calendar shows the current week's economic releases, so you can check which events would block new trades under a selected license's News Filter before sending alerts. To investigate an alert that was already rejected by the filter, check Signal Logs.

Read the calendar#

Releases are grouped by UTC day, with counts showing the total events and high-impact events for each day. Once you select a license, those counts also show how many events would block new trades under its settings.

As you scan the schedule, events at the same minute share a time label, past releases appear dimmed, and Now marks the current UTC time. Both the release times and day headings use UTC, even when your local date differs.

Evaluate a license's settings#

Choose a license under Evaluate against to preview its account-wide settings with any per-license overrides applied, then use the counter to see how many listed events would block new trades.

With the News Filter enabled, an event creates a news window if its impact is high, or medium with that level enabled, provided its category is not excluded and the event is not on the license's ignored list. Low-impact events never block new trades, so Show low-impact releases only changes what you see in the calendar.

Select Ignore beside a release to exclude that named release, including its later occurrences, until you select Unignore. The row shows Manually ignored after the change is saved, and the change takes effect immediately with no separate save step. With Global defaults (no license preview) selected, which is the starting choice, the exclusion becomes an account default. Select a license under Evaluate against to apply it only to that license. License-specific exclusions require license overrides to be enabled in License Settings. A license that already overrides its ignored-event list can differ from the global default. Ignoring a single release is a dashboard-only feature. It applies to cTrader licenses and to MT5 licenses in Dashboard mode, and it is not available to an MT5 EA in MetaTrader mode. In MetaTrader mode use the category exclusions instead, or switch Settings Source to Dashboard.

MT5 Inputs can differ from this preview

When an MT5 EA uses MetaTrader as its Settings Source, its News Filter comes from the EA Inputs, so the dashboard preview may differ from what the terminal enforces. The amber banner flags this difference. To match the preview, switch Settings Source to Dashboard, or keep MetaTrader Mode and configure the filter in MT5.

What a news window affects#

During a news window, PineHook blocks new trades while still allowing you to close positions and cancel orders. If you enable Also hold stop and target changes, which is off by default, the window also blocks modify, breakeven, and trail commands and pauses automatic trailing and breakeven updates. If the calendar is empty#

The calendar source publishes the current week, so fewer upcoming events remain near the weekend, with the schedule filling again when the next week is published. PineHook refreshes it every two hours and shares it with connected execution routes, but an empty schedule provides no news windows to block new trades.
