Can You Automate BlackBull Markets with TradingView? MT5 & cTrader Setup (2026)
Yes, you can automate a TradingView strategy on a BlackBull Markets MT5 or cTrader account by sending the strategy's alerts to PineHook. BlackBull supports both execution platforms, and PineHook routes each alert to the platform assigned to its license.
BlackBull also connects accounts to TradingView, but that integration is limited to manual entries and exits through the Trading Panel. It cannot run a Pine strategy automatically because TradingView does not send strategy orders directly to connected brokers. PineHook supplies the missing automation route by receiving the webhook and executing the command on BlackBull.
BlackBull platform and account details verified against its official pages on September 15, 2026. Products and eligibility can vary by account and region.
How BlackBull automation works#
The complete route has four parts:
- A Pine strategy generates an order message inside a TradingView alert. TradingView documents how to create these messages in its strategy alert guide.
- TradingView sends that message to PineHook's webhook URL. The Creating alerts guide provides the URL and message format.
- The license key at the start of the message identifies the BlackBull account and whether it uses MT5 or cTrader.
- PineHook executes through the MetaTrader 5 EA or the authorized cTrader connection, then records the result in Signal Logs.
The alert message uses the same PineHook format for MT5 and cTrader. Its license key tells PineHook which platform and BlackBull account should receive the order.
| Route | Connection | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| BlackBull MT5 | Sign in to BlackBull's MT5 terminal, install the PineHook EA, and attach it to one chart. | Use this for a BlackBull MT5 account when you can keep the terminal, EA, and internet connection running. See BlackBull's login steps and Connect MetaTrader 5. |
| BlackBull cTrader | Authorize the cTrader ID, then assign its BlackBull account to a PineHook license. | Use this for a BlackBull cTrader account when you do not want execution to depend on a locally running EA. See BlackBull's cTrader login flow and Connect cTrader. |
| BlackBull TradingView | Connect BlackBull in TradingView's Trading Panel and place orders there yourself. | Use this for manual chart trading. It cannot automate a Pine strategy. See BlackBull's TradingView steps and TradingView's automation limitation. |
MT5 requires the PineHook EA to remain connected in a signed-in terminal, whereas cTrader uses an authorized account connection and does not need a locally running EA. Before using normal size on either platform, read the symbol, contract size, volume step, leverage, and trading hours for the BlackBull account from the broker's contract specifications.
Connect BlackBull to PineHook#
Start with Choose a platform in PineHook's Platform setup documentation, then follow the guide for the platform attached to your BlackBull account.
Connect BlackBull MT5#
- Download BlackBull's MT5 terminal, then sign in with the account login and server. BlackBull shows the process in its platform connection guide.
- Follow Connect MetaTrader 5 to install the EA. One chart is enough, as long as algorithmic trading is on.
- Create an MT5 license in PineHook and copy its key into the EA inputs.
- Add the PineHook webhook URL and a supported command to the TradingView alert.
If you prefer to keep MT5 off your own computer, BlackBull offers a hosted VPS with a current free-use threshold of a $2,000 deposit and 20 lots of forex or metals per month. Accounts that fall short of that threshold are charged the listed $25 monthly fee. Connect MetaTrader 5 covers the requirements for running MT5 on either a computer or VPS, while Connect cTrader does not require the desktop application to remain open.
Connect BlackBull cTrader#
- Sign in to cTrader and make sure the intended BlackBull account appears under that cTrader ID. BlackBull describes the login in its platform connection guide.
- Create a cTrader license in PineHook and link your BlackBull account to it.
- Use the new license key in TradingView.
Unlike the MT5 route, cTrader reads its PineHook settings from the dashboard and does not require an EA installation. Revoking that connection stops future execution, although positions already open at BlackBull remain in the account.
Include the platform and account type in the name, especially when the client portal contains several BlackBull accounts.
Verify the symbol and lot size before testing an alert#
Before sending an alert, open the instrument in MT5 Market Watch or cTrader and compare its name with the ticker used by the TradingView strategy. If BlackBull adds a suffix or uses another name, configure symbol mapping so PineHook sends the broker's exact symbol.
Next, compare the quantity produced by TradingView with the lot size BlackBull expects. BlackBull's contract specifications list each instrument's contract size, minimum trade, volume step, leverage, and trading hours. If TradingView reports contracts or units rather than broker lots, configure lot size conversion for that symbol before testing the alert.
Symbol mapping changes the ticker sent to BlackBull, while lot size conversion changes the quantity. For example, if TradingView sends 100000 units for EURUSD and those units represent one broker lot, a conversion factor of 0.00001 produces 1.00 BlackBull lot. PineHook applies that factor to explicit lot-based entries, partial closes, and fixed-lot targets, as explained in the lot size conversion guide.
BlackBull's current contract table provides useful reference points for the test:
| Symbol | BlackBull lot size | Minimum trade size | Listed maximum or fixed leverage |
|---|---|---|---|
| EURUSD | 100,000 | 0.01 lot | 1:500 |
| XAUUSD | 100 | 0.01 lot | 1:500 |
| NAS100 | 1 | 0.1 lot | 1:100 |
| BTCUSD | 1 | 0.01 lot | 1:100, with lower tiers at larger size |
The same check should cover margin and contract availability. BlackBull applies tiered leverage to BTCUSD, with the first 25 lots at 1:100, the next 25 at 1:50, and volume above 50 lots at 1:20. Its .F futures also have close-only and expiration or rollover dates in MT5 server time, so an automated strategy must stop opening the expiring contract and switch its TradingView symbol or mapping before it resumes.
Test a TradingView alert#
Once the symbol and quantity are configured, create a TradingView alert with PineHook's webhook URL and start its message with the license key.
On a BlackBull hedging account, one strategy can hold several positions in the same symbol at once. Each position keeps its own stop-loss and take-profit levels, including its own multi-level TP and SL schedule. The magic= value groups the strategy's positions, and a unique ticket= names one position inside that group. Reuse that ticket in a later modify or close command to manage only that position. The other positions stay open with their own stops and targets unchanged. A PineHook ticket is separate from the broker's order and position numbers. Tickets work only on hedging accounts; netting accounts combine each symbol into one position and reject ticket parameters. See Hedging and netting accounts for the account rules and Common parameters for ticket format and targeting behavior.
A minimum-size EURUSD test for a hedging account can look like this:
YOUR_LICENSE_KEY,buy,EURUSD,size_lots=0.01,magic=1001,ticket=eur-long-001,sl_pips=50,tp_pips=100
The Creating alerts guide provides the webhook URL and message format, while the Default Mode reference defines size_lots, sl_pips, and tp_pips. When the alert fires, confirm in MT5 or cTrader that the symbol, side, volume, stop loss, and take profit match the alert, then compare the accepted command with the execution response in Signal Logs. If any value differs, correct the mapping or conversion and repeat the minimum-size test before increasing risk.
Match the strategy costs to the account#
PineHook connects the same way whether the BlackBull account is ECN Standard, ECN Prime, or Prime+, but the account's spread and commission still affect the automated strategy's net results. BlackBull's account guide lists Standard with spreads from 0.8 pips and no separate commission, while Prime and Prime+ advertise spreads from 0.0 pips with a commission. Use the spread observed during the strategy's trading hours and enter the commission charged on that specific account into TradingView's broker emulator.
BlackBull currently publishes two different Prime+ commission figures. Its account comparison lists $3 per lot, per side before rebates, while the commission guide describes an equivalent $2-per-lot rate. Confirm the rate on the account before testing the strategy rather than building the model around either public figure.
Configure risk controls for the account#
After the alert path is working, add limits that reflect the capital and tested risk of the account. PineHook's risk-management controls apply independently of the TradingView script, which matters when alerts keep arriving after market conditions or strategy behavior have changed. We recommend using them to contain a bad session, interrupt a longer losing run, and refuse entries when execution costs move outside the strategy's assumptions. They work as account-level backstops alongside position sizing and protective stops.
| PineHook control | How it works and why it helps |
|---|---|
| Daily loss limit | Measures the day's loss from the higher of balance or equity at the UTC reset. Use it to stop one poor session from consuming the account's wider risk budget. End of Day drawdown mode already provides a daily guard. |
| Overall drawdown limit | Watches equity against a longer-term floor. Static protects a fixed starting level, while trailing modes and Relative can protect gains as the account grows. Use it to catch a decline that develops across several days. |
| Active trading sessions | Allows new entries only during chosen UTC hours while exits and management remain available. Use it to keep the strategy inside the sessions and liquidity conditions it was tested on. The optional cutoff can flatten positions and remove pending orders. |
| Maximum spread | Refuses a new entry when the live spread exceeds a pip or percentage ceiling. Use it to avoid paying an abnormal entry cost during rollover or thin markets. It cannot lock the final fill price. |
| News filter | Holds new entries around selected economic releases. Use it to reduce exposure to the spread expansion and slippage that often surround scheduled news. Existing BlackBull positions and orders remain live. |
Setting a drawdown limit also means deciding what PineHook should do when the account breaches it. You can stop new entries, close the open positions, or close them and keep further trading blocked. Since a market exit may fill beyond the trigger, place the threshold inside the maximum loss you are prepared to accept rather than directly on that boundary.
These loss limits do not control the margin BlackBull requires to hold a position. BlackBull can reduce leverage in tiers as trade size increases, as shown in its leverage guide, which means a trade may stay within the PineHook loss settings while consuming more free margin than expected. Note the margin reserved during the minimum-size test and leave room for wider spreads or other alerts that may open at the same time.
Use the news calendar before volatile sessions#
After sizing and margin are correct, decide when the account should accept new entries around scheduled news. Set the before-and-after window globally or as a per-license override for the BlackBull account; the News Filter settings explain that inheritance. Select the license in the News Calendar to see which releases fall inside its saved window.
During the configured window, PineHook holds matching new entries. Close and cancel commands still run, while stop and target changes are held only when that option is enabled.
Copy one strategy to BlackBull and other brokers#
A PineHook Trade Copier sends one TradingView alert to several licenses. The destination licenses can belong to other BlackBull accounts or to completely different brokers. Each account receives the alert with its own size multiplier, so one strategy can scale across brokers without separate alerts.
The screenshot below makes the multiplier easy to understand: the same three trades appear on all three licenses, with the 0.5x account receiving half the 1x volume and PnL and the 2x account receiving twice as much. Symbols, sides, entries, and current prices match across all nine positions because they came from the same copied alerts. PineHook applies the multiplier to fixed lots as well as volume calculated from risk, as documented in the Trade Copier reference.
Compare BlackBull's contract specifications and size each destination by intended risk. One lot can represent different exposure on different instruments.
Frequently asked questions#
Is BlackBull Markets MT5-only?
BlackBull is not limited to MT5, as its current platform directory also lists cTrader and several other trading platforms.
Can BlackBull's TradingView connection automate a Pine strategy?
BlackBull's TradingView connection supports manual Trading Panel orders, but it cannot automate a Pine strategy. TradingView confirms that Pine strategies cannot place orders automatically through a connected brokerage account, which is why automated execution requires a separate webhook route such as PineHook.
Must MT5 or cTrader stay open?
The MT5 route needs the PineHook EA running in the terminal, as described in Connect MetaTrader 5. Connect cTrader uses an authorized account connection, so the cTrader desktop application does not need to remain open.
Does PineHook need my broker password?
PineHook does not need the broker password. MT5 credentials remain in the terminal as described in Connect MetaTrader 5, while Connect cTrader explains the account authorization flow.
Can a single alert reach both platforms?
Yes, by adding the MT5 and cTrader licenses to the same PineHook Trade Copier and sending the alert to its Copier ID. PineHook routes the trade to both platforms and applies the multiplier configured for each license.
Which drawdown mode should I choose?
Use Maximum Daily Loss for a daily boundary. For the longer account floor, PineHook supports static, trailing, and relative calculations, each described in the risk-management reference. Choose the calculation that matches the risk plan for the account.
