Lot size conversion

Convert TradingView contract or unit quantities into broker lots, set a default conversion factor, and add symbol-specific exceptions per account.

Last updated: 2026-10-07

TradingView may express an order size in contracts or units, while your broker expects lots. Lot size conversion turns the quantity from your alert into the correct broker volume for each symbol.

For example, when a strategy reports 100000 contracts for EURUSD and that represents one broker lot, add this rule:

TradingView symbolConversion factorResult
EURUSD0.00001100000 × 0.00001 = 1.00 lot

The conversion runs before the platform's existing broker-volume normalization. Minimum volume, maximum volume and volume-step handling do not change.

What gets converted#

Lot conversion translates alert quantities into broker lots. A Trade Copier multiplier separately scales the requested size for each destination.

The factor applies to every explicit lot-denominated alert value:

  • size_lots
  • close_lots
  • the signed target of setposition, preserving its direction and zero
  • multi-target tp*_lots and sl*_lots

It does not affect percentages or calculated-risk sizing, including size_pct, size_dollar, size_pct_equity, size_margin_pct, size_balance_lots_pct, close_pct, tp*_close and sl*_close.

Your account's Default Lot Size is already in broker lots, so it is used as entered. Alerts with the symbol ALL are not converted, because there is no single symbol to look up.

On a netting account, keep the same rule active until the position is closed. The rule then scales entries, partial exits, full exits, and reversals consistently.

Do not change a factor while its position is open

An exit is converted using the rule active when the exit arrives. Changing the factor after entry can make a later lot-based exit smaller or larger than the position it is meant to close. Close the position first, or use percentage-based close parameters.

Where to configure it#

Lot size conversion is configured from the Licenses page in your PineHook dashboard.

To set the defaults for your account, find Default trading settings, click Edit defaults, open Symbols and mapping, and enter your conversion factor or symbol rules under Lot size conversion. These values apply to every license that has not overridden them.

To configure one license, open its three-dot menu, choose License Settings, and select Symbols and mapping. Change the default factor or any symbol rules under Lot size conversion, then click Save Changes. Values you leave unchanged continue to use your account defaults, and Reset to global conversion settings removes the license overrides.

In MetaTrader settings mode, use the EA input under Broker Symbol Mapping. Enter semicolon-separated SYMBOL:FACTOR rules, for example:

EURUSD:0.00001;US30:1

Dashboard settings apply to cTrader directly. MetaTrader input values only apply when MetaTrader is the selected settings source.

Safety rules#

  • Symbols are matched against the TradingView name, before broker symbol mapping.
  • Each TradingView symbol can have only one conversion rule.
  • Factors must be between 0.00000001 and 1000000.
  • No matching rule means 1:1, which preserves existing behavior.
