MetaTrader 5 automation

On MT5, PineHook runs as an EA in your own terminal. TradingView sends an alert to PineHook's webhook, PineHook passes it to the EA, and the EA places the order on your account. Your broker password stays in MT5. PineHook never asks for it.

The terminal has to be running whenever an alert can fire, so most traders keep it on a VPS or a computer that stays on. The comparison post weighs that against cTrader, which connects in the cloud and needs no terminal. The troubleshooting posts here explain the MT5 errors that stop an automated trade, and most broker and prop firm guides cover MT5 too, under the Guides tag.
